Excellent black levels and contrast levels

The extra yellow sub-pixel makes some colours look unnatural, reflective panel, no IPTV via Ethernet, no 3D support

The Sharp Quattron LC52LE820X is a great TV when it comes to contrast, black levels and displaying fine image detail, but its colour needs some tweaking. We're disappointed by its lack of extra features like 3D and IPTV, though.

Even so, we'd suggest users look instead to less hyperactive technologies from the likes of Panasonic (in the case of plasma) and Sony (for LCD). You will probably end up paying more but the resulting picture will be entirely more pleasing.

The LC-46LE820M is Sharp's latest flagship LCD TV using proprietary Quattron technology, which promises to faithfully produce all the hues visible to the eye.

The LC-60LE820UN will be priced at around $4000 when it is released in March. That's a little expensive for a 60-inch model, but the LE820 series is one of Sharp's higher-end models. We can't comment too much on the value of the TV's extra features;...
