Sharp Aquos LC-19D1E 19in LCD TV

 

If you're in the market for a second-room TV, Sharp's HD Ready LC-19D1E should fit the bill nicely.

Although the relentless shift towards ever-bigger screen sizes might make Sharp's 19D1E appear a little unfashionable, if you are in the market for such a diminutive TV, it's comfortably the finest LCD ‘portable' I've seen so far.

It's worth knowing that the Sharp LC19D1E set won't handle a 1080/24p signal, but 720p pictures aren't far behind the best in class

Good looks ; nice pictures from SD and HD discs ; very affordable

Poor usability ; Freeview isn’t terrific ; audio

Pictures aren’t the best, but size, style and price make it an appealing TV

Who would want to watch high-definition on a 19-inch LCD TV? Anyone who owns Sharp's LC-19D1E, that's who. Just out in high gloss red, this small telly is also available in back and white. The speakers directly under the screen won't exactly blow you...

Choice of red, black or white gloss finish, no motion blur, great colours, deep black levels

Small buttons on remote control, slight lack of brightness

The speakers directly under the screen won’t exactly blow you away, but there’s a precision to treble detail that serves dialogue music very well indeed. Movies fare less well, though it’s a decent attempt.

The 19D1E also starts well by being the proud owner of a remarkably sylph-like design that's available in white or black. Plus, at under ?220, it costs relative peanuts for an HD Ready 19in TV.

Great Small TV

 

Small, Clear, Built in DVD, Very good speakers with DTS. Has a great Digital Tuner, picks up twice the channels than my Samsung off the same HD Antennae(not amplified). It is making an excellent kitchen TV

Only 720p.....but states it is playing certain over the air stations at 1080i....so not that many. I will not be playing video games on this

Mom loves it

 

Mom had me order one to replace old CRT TV in kitchen when I told her she could get a 19" LCD to replace her 17" CRT for under $200. She liked it so much she called back a week later and had me order her another one for the den. Mom is pushing 80!
