From what I can tell the sound chip used on this board is not what's stated. If you look at Asus specs it's different. If I had known that I wouldn't have purchased ; The sound works in either two ways for me. No surround sound and a mic or no mic but...

So far I've had no problems with this machine, its fast, great looking and a very good price. Anything I've tried to test it with has done great. I bought it for games and haven't had any problems running full settings on any game
